Hot-Dip Galvanizing in Tlemcen

The hot-dip galvanizing process, according to ISO 1461, involves immersing steel parts in a bath of molten zinc (approximately 450°C) to form a protective anti-corrosion coating on the steel surface.
ISO 1461 hot-dip galvanizing provides both barrier protection (where the zinc layer shields the underlying metal) and sacrificial protection (where the zinc corrodes in place of the steel).
The galvanizing process consists of several key stages.

Stages of the Hot-Dip Galvanizing Process – ISO 1461

1

Surface Preparation

This stage precedes the immersion of the steel parts into the zinc bath. It includes several steps: degreasing, pickling, rinsing, fluxing, and drying. These operations are essential to ensure optimal adhesion of the zinc coating.

2

Galvanizing

Hot-dip galvanizing in accordance with ISO 1461 involves immersing the prepared steel part in a bath of molten zinc. Depending on the type of part (size, required coating thickness, etc.), the immersion time typically ranges from 3 to 15 minutes. During this time, an intermetallic layer forms between the steel and the molten zinc, ensuring strong adhesion of the protective coating.

Processus de galvanisation

C’est un procédé qui consiste à réaliser en usine, dans des conditions minutieusement contrôlées, une liaison métallurgique entre de l’acier et du zinc.

3

Passivation

To maintain the shine and extend the durability of the galvanized coating, the parts are treated with a protective film. This process begins with a brief cooling period after the zinc bath, followed by immersion in a passivation bath. This passivation service is currently available at several facilities within the ZINQ group.

Key features

Zinc coating

The hot-dip galvanizing process involves immersing the steel or iron part in a bath of molten zinc, creating a layer of zinc on the surface of the material.

Corrosion Protection

The zinc layer acts as a protective barrier, preventing rust and corrosion from forming on the base metal.

Weather resistance

Hot-dip galvanized parts are particularly resistant to harsh environmental conditions, including humidity, rain, salt and UV rays.

Durability

Hot-dip galvanizing considerably extends the life of steel or iron parts, reducing maintenance and replacement requirements.

Versatile applications

This process is used in a variety of industries, from construction and automotive to agriculture and infrastructure.
